GFYR is a registered (non-profit) 501(c)(3) Corporation with Virginia.
Per the IRS regulations, contributions to domestic 501(c)(3) organizations are deductible as charitable contributions on the donor's federal income tax return (Publication 557).
This includes organizations that have not yet received their determining letter from the IRS; but (1) are required to apply for recognition of exemption and has done so, and (2) meets the requirements set forth for 501(c)(3) organizations.
1) Great Falls Youth Rugby has filed Form 1023 on 8/31.
2) Following the IRS requirements, all of the following are true:
a) The organization is organized exclusively for, and will be operated exclusively for, one or more of the purposes (religious, charitable, etc.) specified in the introduction to this chapter.
b) No part of the organization's net earnings will inure to the benefit of private shareholders or individuals. You must establish that your organization will not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, such as the creator or the creator's family, shareholders of the organization, other designated individuals, or persons controlled directly or indirectly by such private interests.
c) The organization will not, as a substantial part of its activities, attempt to influence legislation (unless it elects to come under the provisions allowing certain lobbying expenditures) or participate to any extent in a political campaign for or against any candidate for public office.
More on sponsorship/revenue:
1) If your company (or if you know of any businesses/organizations etc) would be willing to donate to, or sponsor our team, let me know so that we can approach them. If you want to be involved that is great.
2) Personal donations to Great Falls Youth Rugby are welcome! Every bit helps! All is tax-deductible.
3) Any thoughts on fund-raising, events, other source of income, please get with us and we can work on that.
Again: ALL revenue goes back to the kids = more money to give back to the program = better kit, equipment, socials etc - and ultimately more people will want to come to Great Falls Youth Rugby.
